LITTLE ROCK, AR – In response to Governor Sanders’s appointment of Rep. Grant Hodges to the Board of Corrections, Opportunity Arkansas Founder and CEO Nic Horton released the following statement:
“If I had to draw up a profile of the ideal Board of Corrections appointee, their attributes would include patience, wisdom, fairness, transparency, prudence, empathy, and selflessness. Rep. Grant Hodges embodies every one of these traits.
As a longtime friend, I’ve witnessed Rep. Hodges’s character–especially his commitment to truth and transparency–firsthand, for more than a decade.
As a devoted father, he knows that public safety must be the #1 focus of corrections policy; he will work tirelessly to make Arkansas safer.
And as a man of faith, he will work to protect and prioritize victims while also helping create new opportunities for rehabilitated offenders to contribute to society, where they can find dignity and purpose.
Grant has spent his entire adult life working to solve generational problems in our state. He is humble but unafraid. He is firm but fair. He is self-driven but selfless. He is patient but persistent. He’s a man of true grit.
For these reasons–and so many more–he is the perfect choice to serve on the Board of Corrections.
This role will require a lot of hard work and sacrifice, without a lot of glamour. But it’s no surprise to those of us who know him best that he was willing to step up nonetheless. And for that, Arkansans are fortunate.
Congratulations Governor Sanders on another terrific appointment and congratulations, my friend.”
Hodges’s appointment is the latest Opportunity Arkansas advisory board member to earn an appointment from Governor Sanders. Previous OA advisory board appointments include Secretary of Transformation and Shared Services (Joseph Wood), Supreme Court justice (Cody Hiland), and special Supreme Court justice (Bilenda Harris-Ritter, twice).
